1. How long is the period covered by the “Limited Lifetime Warranty”? |
| Answer: The limited lifetime warranty is valid from the date of original purchase until the end of post-production halt service period (approximately 5 years). |
| 2. Is the limited lifetime warranty applicable to all GWInstek products? |
| Answer: No. The limited lifetime warranty is applicable only to specified models in the digital oscilloscope series. |
| 3. Which products are eligible for the limited lifetime warranty? |
Answer:
GDS-1022/1042/1062/ 1102 in the GDS-1000 series digital oscilloscope
GDS-2062/2064/2102/2104/2202/ 2204 in the GDS-2000 series digital oscilloscope |
| 4. Is the limited lifetime warranty applicable to products purchased earlier? |
| Answer: In order to be eligible for the limited lifetime warranty, the original date of purchase must be during or later than July 2008. |
| 5. How can I obtain the limited lifetime warranty? |
| Answer: First, you need to register the product online at the GWInstek web site. After reviewing your registration, GWInstek will let you know whether you are entitled to the limited lifetime warranty. |
| 6. If a product is purchased during or later than July 2008 but not being registered yet , is it still eligible for the limited lifetime warranty? |
| Answer: No. If the product is not being registered yet, it is only eligible for the 3-year warranty after the date of purchase. |
| 7. Is there any deadline for the online registration? |
| Answer:
Taiwan – Within 3 months from the date of purchase.
Countries and regions other than Taiwan – Within 3 months from the date of purchase. |
| 8. What is the deadline for the online registration? |
| Answer: 3 months after the date of purchase. |
| 9. If a product is still not registered 3 months after the date of purchase, is it completely disqualified from the limited lifetime warranty? |
| Answer: Yes. In this case, the product will only be eligible for the 3-year warranty after the date of purchase. |
| 10. What is NOT covered by GWInstek's limited lifetime warranty, in terms of hardware? |
| Answer:
The following items are not covered by the limited lifetime warranty even if the product itself is eligible for it. Warranty period for each item , if available, is listed on the right.
a. LCD – One year after the date of shipment
b. Battery – Three months after the date of shipment
c. Other accessories (power cord, probe, fuse, etc) – No warranty
d. Appearance of the product (handle, stand, etc), mechanical wear (knob, button, BNC terminal, etc) – No warranty
e. Product s for which the limited lifetime warranty is expired – No warranty |
| 11. What is NOT covered by GWInstek's limited lifetime warranty, in terms of usage? |
| Answer:
The following items are not covered by the limited lifetime warranty even if the product itself is eligible for it. Warranty period for each item , if available, is listed on the right.
a. Damage due to inappropriate transportation – No warranty
b. Damage due to accident, inappropriate usage/installation, unauthorized parts replacement – No warranty
c. Damage due to natural disaster – No warranty
d. Aging of the appearance (color change, dirt , etc ) – No warranty |
| 12. What should I do if the product becomes defective during the warranty period? |
| Answer: Please contact the original retailer (distributor) where you purchased the product. |
| 13. Can a non-original distributor provide the limited lifetime warranty support? What do I need to pay in that case? |
| Answer:
Only original distributors can provide the limited lifetime warranty support. Therefore in this case, out-of-warranty support will be provided. You need to pay for the following items.
a. Shipping cost from your starting location to the non original distributor
b. The shipping charge from the non original distributor back to your location
c. Any additional repair cost (manpower, material, etc). |
| 14. Do I have to pay for the transportation of product if it becomes defective during the warranty period? |
| Answer:
Only original distributors can provide the limited lifetime warranty support. Therefore in this case, out-of-warranty support will be provided. You need to pay for the following items.
a. Shipping cost from your starting location to the non original distributor
b. The shipping charge from the non original distributor back to your location
c. Any additional repair cost (manpower, material, etc). |
| 15. If the product is covered by the limited lifetime warranty, do you use only new parts for repair? |
| Answer: It depends. The parts and assemblies used in repair can be either new parts or repaired parts in mint condition. |
| 16. If a problem NOT covered by the limited lifetime warranty occurs (listed in FAQ number 1 0 and 1 1 ) , do I have to pay for the repair service? |

Yes. If a product is covered by the limited lifetime warranty, but the problem falls into the scope of FAQ No.10 and No.11, you have to pay for the following items:
a. Shipping cost from your starting location to the original distributor
b. The shipping charge from the original distributor back to your location
c. Any additional repair cost (manpower, material, etc). |
| 17. After the product is repaired, can the product be shipped to a specific address from the original distributor? |
| Answer: Yes . If the return shipping address is different from the original address, the entire shipping cost to the assigned address should be handled by the customers. |
| 18. After a product is repaired, will the limited lifetime warranty period be recalculated? |
| Answer: No. The limited lifetime warranty period is still calculated from the original date of purchase, regardless of what happen s after then . |
| 19. After the limited lifetime warranty period expires , i s there any way to repair the product? |
| Answer: It depends. You can send your products directly to GWInstek or a distributor/representative authorized by GWInstek for repair . However, GWInstek possesses the right to decide whether to repair the product. |
| 20. If I ask for a service support after the limited lifetime warranty is expired, what do I need to pay for? |

You need to pay for the following items.
a. Shipping cost to from your starting location to the original distributor
b. The shipping charge from the original distributor back to your location
c. Any additional repair cost (manpower, material, etc). |
