In the 1950s, Hughes Aircraft Company secured a contract with the U.S. military to create fire control systems and radar during the Korean War. In 1959, the Hughes’ microwave tube division won a contract for a major radar system and expanded its operations, becoming the brand Electron Dynamics Division (EDD). In 1985, General Motors purchased the Hughes Aircraft Company and renamed it Electron Dynamics, keeping the initials EDD. Today, Hughes operates as Electron Technologies and develops data acquisition (DAQ) equipment, amplifiers, frequency meters, and traveling-wave tube (twt) amplifiers. You can purchase used/refurbished Hughes test equipment at ValueTronics.com at discounted prices.
