A clamp-on ammeter, or clamp meter, is an electrical tester that measures current and voltage. It combines digital multimeters with a current sensor using a hinged clamp jaw and an electrical meter. With a clamp meter, simply clamp the device around cables, wires, or other conductors to measure and document its current. There’s no need to disconnect. Collect information about AC current, resistance, continuity, frequency, temperature, and more. Keeping a log of this information can help technicians, industrial maintenance workers, electricians, and HVAC technicians during their daily workplace activities.
Clamp meters are also called tong testers. Use them to repair existing systems, install electrical equipment, and maintain electro-mechanical systems.
