An LCR meter is a piece of electronic test equipment that measures inductance (L), capacitance (C), and resistance (R) of electronic components. The LCR meter accurately measures these elements on an electronic device, usually one subjected to an alternating current (AC) voltage source. The LCR meter measures the current through and voltage across the device under test. The meter takes the ratio of these measurements to determine the magnitude of the device’s impedance.
Use an LCR meter with various bridge circuits to measure inductance, capacitance, and resistance of a piece of equipment. Bridge circuits enable you to adjust variable calibrated elements for a signal to become null rather than measuring impedance.
